Dogs and Cats Aren’t the only Options

If you are the type who detest big, noisy or rowdy pets or are not able to adopt furry animals due to time, money, or health reasons, there are other options for you. The term “pets” is not exclusively given to dogs and cats although they are, by far, the most popular choice.

If you are thinking of adopting, there are some animal shelters out there who are already offering other types of animals for adoption. They might not be that cute just like their furry counterparts; however, they also deserve to be taken care of and are more than willing to bring happiness into the home of their new owner.

Most people are aware of the many cats and dogs at Halifax Humane Society looking for homes. However, you may not be aware of the variety of other pets available in our critter room. Rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs and rats are now available to be adopted. There also have been ferrets, hamsters, snakes, birds, mice and other animals at the shelter recently.

Drop by your local shelter to see what they have to offer in alternative pets…you might be surprised.
