Training Beagle Puppies
Most people think that training beagle puppies is simply teaching the pups to do things like sit, stay, speak, and roll over. Puppies as young as five weeks old know how to do this. There is actually a lot more that goes into training any type of puppy. There are two key training principles that you should follow when you start training beagle puppies. Teaching your puppies to recognize human words for each dog behavior and making sure that they understand why you want them to do it are both crucial aspects of dog training.
Teaching your beagle puppies to recognize and understand human words and the dog behaviors that are associated with each, is probably the best place to start your training program. Your puppies will get used to their owner directing them to perform specific actions at the right time and the right place. This type of training will open the communication channels between owner and dog and it will enable the beagle puppies to better understand your requests.
In addition to teaching your beagle puppies what to do, it’s also important that they understand why they are doing it. About 95% of all dog training revolves around motivating the dog to want to do what we ask them to. Most of the time a dog will understand what you want them to do; they just don’t see the point of doing it. If there is one thing that you should know about beagle puppies it’s that they are very intelligent. Beagle pups will often be unresponsive to a command simply because they do not see any point in performing the task. Add a reward to this type of training and the learned behaviors will be achieved much sooner.
Rewards come in many forms. A reward can simply praise, just petting your beagle puppies and telling them that they are good pups is a way to reward their behavior. Rewards can also be in the form of treats. You can find a variety of training pet treats at any pet store and they are usually the more popular choice.
