When it comes to therapy programs for both the physically and mentally challenged, there are a lot of them. You cannot name them one by one and explain them here in detail, but on the whole, they have one goal. That is to help the individual cope with whatever disability he or she might have as of the moment, and to make a better person out of whatever he or she has gone through in life.
Maurette Hanson, an Equine specialist in Mental Health and Learning and a certified Therapeutic riding instructor, has helped numerous patients with physical and mental disabilities develop a new person in themselves. She has been working at the Healing Horse Therapy Center, located at Loxahatchee, offering riding lessons and other equine-assisted activities and therapies to their patients.
When Hanson began her program the vision was to create a safe, nurturing, supportive and serene environment for humans and horses alike. The center offers riding lessons for those with cognitive or physical disabilities, natural horsemanship along with equine facilitated psycho therapy.
She is a PATH International-certified therapeutic riding instructor and certified equine specialist in mental health. This along with over 20 years of equine management and a passion for helping others is what makes the center stand out.
Healing Horse Therapy Center offers therapeutic riding, equine facilitated learning and a veterans program for those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.
As such, this whole new way of doing therapy is indeed a refresher from the usual kinds of therapy being done and enrolled in by patients. However, I’m not saying that the other therapies are ineffective or boring. What I mean is, each therapy has a specific mechanism of action, or a specific way of instilling to the patients what they must learn with regards to life and this horse riding therapy is one way of instilling confidence and trust in themselves in overcoming life’s obstacles.
If you are interested in this therapy, simply because you want to ride a horse or because of the abovementioned reasons, feel free to visit the site this article is linked to. Don’t forget to spread the word to everyone you come across with, and together let’s make the world a better place to live.
