Quidsi Inc is launching a new online store specifically only for pet products called Wag.com. This site is currently under Beta testing, but is expected to become fully operational soon.
Quidsi Inc is a subsidiary of Amazon, they were bought out in November 2010 by the online retailer giant.
Wag.com is to have a number of sub categories, for Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, Reptiles and small animals. Under each category you will find a number of products sorted in different categories similar to how Amazon operates.
Amazon is going ahead with the launch even though they themselves have separate categories for pet products in their own site. This is because Quidsi is known to have started other niche websites like diapers.com and soap.com, each dealing with specific products in a particular niche.
The site is well designed and the home page is very simple with the picture of animals belonging to the different categories. When you move the curser over the images you are greeted with a ruff ruff if you are pointing at the dog, and a tweet tweet if you are pointing at the parrot. You also get an easy link to each animal’s products there.
Also they are advertising that they offer free shipping anywhere in the US for purchases of $49 or more.
As of now all the products are available only within the US including Alaska and Hawaii. Although most of us know that purchasing dog food online is cheaper, you now have one place where you can compare prices and also read reviews of the different products.
If you want to check it out just log on to www.wag.com and browse through it. As a pet store, it is even better than the one round the corner.
