The Bronx Zoo, the largest metropolitan Zoo in the US has recently started the Lego Wildlife Expedition which is an exhibit of a number of wild animals made of Lego.
Most of us urban dwellers are getting to a stage where we don’t know how a number of animals that were very common even in our parents generation look like. There are
no horses or cows, and even dogs are getting rare what with most people not having the time to take care of them.
The Bronx Zoo has always been there for New York dwellers, and the new exhibit is just meant to bring children closer to both nature as well as animals.
The exhibit contains lifelike sculptures of tigers, flamingos, gorillas, giraffes, penguins and many more. All of them are made of lego, and although they may not be the real thing, it is at least better than just looking at pictures.
Not only this, but there is a separate portion where visitors can make whatever they want out of lego.
The Lego wildlife expedition will remain open till the end of September to give everyone a chance to come and visit.
The Bronx Zoo contains more than 4000 animals, many of them threatened or endangered species. It is one of the most modern zoos around with people able to watch animals in their natural habitat.
While some animals are in open outdoor exhibits, other animals that may pose a threat to humans, are viewed through a glass fronted enclosure. These animals too are in their natural surroundings.
In fact there are large enclosures where a number of different animal species share one enclosure, quite like how they are in the wild.
Take your kid there for a day of fun, and the lego exhibits allow them to get up close to animals that they cannot otherwise see.
