A Siberian tiger attacked and killed it’s owner on Sunday in Southwold, Ontario, Canada.
Norman Buwalda, the 66 year old owner, was mauled to death by the 650 pound Siberian Tiger when he attempted to feed him in the animal’s pen.
He was found by a family member who locked up the tiger in a separate part of the pen and called police.
Buwalda was not wearing any protective clothing at the time. Due to lack of witnesses, the reason for the attack is not known. The cat did appear to be agitated…pacing back and forth in it’s pen.
Police say that Buwalda was known for keeping exotic pets and had the proper permits for doing so.
The future fate of the tiger is not known at this time but will likely be left up to the family. The circumstances are complex due to it being a wild animal with someone entering it’s pen.
